Block 31
is another one
that should have been included
with the earlier
cornet blessing.
I mentioned
with Block 21,
I believe,
that I played French Horn
during the concert season
in high school band.
The blessing,
that goes along with this block is,
"Thank You Lord,
"Thank You Lord,
for allowing this left brained person
to play a brass instrument'
that demanded I use
the right side of my brain."
If you have
never played a French Horn,
you do your fingerings
with your left hand,
(all other brass instruments
are played with the right hand)
as your right hand
mutes the sound
that comes out of the bell.
When the notes
are the same
and the fingerings are the same
but the fingers are on the hand
you have never fingered with
it can be a trip and a half!
Dear Lord,
I forgot to thank you on my cornet blessing for your being with me when I had to hit that note all by myself . . . no one else was playing the "horn" besides me, and if I had missed it,
it would have stuck out like a sore thumb.
I can still see Prof making eye contact with me, using his hand to help me pull the note out and hold it, while his baton hand was directing everyone else, and the big smile he gave me when I actually accomplished it.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, for being with me and pulling me through.
Amen.

I so wanted to play the french horn in band. They told me it was an advanced horn and I had to start with something else.
I didn't know you played with your left hand - that would have worked being left handed!

I didn't know that about French horns, but then I know very little about any musical instruments.
