Another Hoosier food,
I believe.
* * * * * SUGAR CREAM PIE * * * * *
Even typing the word
makes me happy.
I can feel my tongue,
cruising my teeth,
and roof of my mouth
searching for some
remnants of a recently eaten
Sugar Cream Pie.
The sad thing is,
Western New York
has no idea what it is.
Well, Gene said his mom
had heard of it
Well, Gene said his mom
had heard of it
but never ate any.
But she is the
only one I know
who says this.

Butter,
sugar,
milk,
crust . . .
what a combination!
All are made similar,
but this is the recipe
I grew upon~
Combine and Beat Well:

Pour into unbaked pie shell.
Sprinkle with Nutmeg.

Makes my mouth water
just writing it down.
Dear Lord,
You have made the world a smorgasbord of tastes, but few foods would I call blessings. Those few that I do place in this category make me feel safe and secure whenever I eat them. They bring back memories of a long lost time when life was simpler and I had no worries. Thank you SO MUCH for allowing me to have these memories and that they are still fresh and crisp in my mind.
Amen

I'm glad you like it and are grateful for it. I can't say it sounds as appealing to me (a western NY thing?), but then, I'm a fruit pie person anyway. It seems similar to my Mom's bread pudding -- eggs, butter, sugar, milk and bread instead of crust -- which I don't like, either. (I'm the black sheep on this one.)
I like the stitched square, though. :^D
