Block 70

Sewing
Not that I do much of it now,
nor have I ever.

Having said that,
I did have a sewing class
in 7th and 8th grade.
I think I learned more from Mom
than from poor Miss Miller.

Every once in a while
I will get a
"bug up my butt"
to make something.
Normally,
it would be a jumper.

However,
i have been known
to  "whip up"
curtains when I
can't find what I want.
Nothing fancy,
just material
that I hem at the bottom,
make a channel
for the rod at the top
and finish off the edges.

But,
I must admit
that I did
make Balloon Curtains
for my bedroom window.
LOVED them.
Would make them again
if, and when,
I ever have another
window that wide.

I have never been
the "neatest"
when it comes to
zippers or seams.
Mom would say,
"If some one is close
enough to see it,
they must be family
or you must be in love!"

So,
or should I say
"sew,"
I keep that
as my sewing motto.
"If you can see it,
it must be love"
and I don't care
if they see it or not.
It works for me :0}

Dear Lord,
Would you, someday, let me know who first decided to take some thread-like animal/plant part, stick it through a needle like bone or stick, and sew things together? I just think that would be so interesting to see how it was discovered and who figured it out.

It is a blessing to know that if I get a rip in something, or actually want to make something,m I can take out my sewing machine and know I will be able to fix/make what needs to be fixed/made.

Amen

Do you realize how many girls today don't even know how to sew on a button? Where are the home ec classes now?
