Dams and Reservoirs
I always took
the dams and reservoirs
that keep our rivers
from flooding
for granted.
Then,
I see on the news
countries,
this time Pakistan,
where their rivers
cause deadly floods.
I just heard
on the news
of a man with a wife
and 5 children
did not evacuate their home.
they had lived there for years
and the floods
ad never touched them.
Last night,
the flood waters hit,
causing their roof
to fall on them.
The husband and wife survived.
All 5 children died.
What these people
wouldn't give
for good dams
that could save the lives
of their loved ones.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for my being born into a family in a modern country that has the resources and manpower to protect my town. Both the Eel and Wabash River passed through our town. The Wabash had flooded many times before a dam was placed on it and created the Missessinewa Reservoir. I only had to worry about flooding once . . and Dad was called out with the rest of the National Guard to make sure no one was caught on bridges that could end up flooded.
I truly am blessed.
Amen

Wow, that block turned out wonderful! I had no idea how you were going to pull this one off - but it's great! And how true - being thankful for dams. Another one I missed!
