Block 54

Catfish . .
well smack my lips
and call  me Happy!

They just swim
on the river bottoms,
(None of those
 farm raised fakes
for me!)
 spending their days
eating and looking
for food to eat
just waiting to be caught!

I LOVES me some
Eel River catfish . . .
lightly fried, please.
If I'm lucky
it will be a female
and we get to fry
the her eggs.
It makes a mess,
but in the end
it's all worth it.

There are other fish
that swim
the rivers,
streams
and lakes,
just waiting to be caught.
 But the
KING
of them all
is the lowly catfish,
whiskers and all.
It makes my tummy happy
just thinking
about them.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for fish in our world. Your Son did wonders with fish and loaves of bread and we thank him for that. Today, we can't multiply our fish as easily as he did. We need to be environmentally sensitive to their river, stream, lake or ocean homes. You gave us such a bounty that we must protect them for generations to come.

Amen
