Block 69

Lots of blessings
rolled into one.

TThis started out as Blessing 39,
but when I came to adding
Block 69,
I had to change the number . . .

I am lucky:

  1. to have grown up in the town where I grew up.

  2. to have grown up in the era I grew up in.

  3. to have had the friends I had.

  4. to go through 12 years of school, and 1 year of kindergarten, in 12 years.

I don't understand
the purpose
of pre-school "graduation?"
How many kids fail pre-school.

I don't understand
"graduating"
from junior high/middle school
into high school.

But I do understand
graduating from high school.

That teenager:

  1. will now have more responsibilities than they have had before, or at least they should.

  2. will now be working to provide their own shelter, clothing and food, or soon will.

  3. is now as close to being an adult as they ever will be, without actually being one.

Graduating high school
is a major
RITE OF PASSAGE!
Not everyone in the world
gets to do it.
Not everyone
who gets to do it
does it in 4 years.
Not everyone
accomplishes it at all.

SO FAR,
SO GOOD!

So, Dear Lord,

  1. Thank you for letting me make it through school without failing a grade.

  2. Thank you for allowing me to have made such good friends in elementary school that at class reunions, we start where we left off . . we know each others bad spots and don't care.

  3.  Thank you for allowing me to grow up in a town where "the village did raise the child." You knew everyone was watching out for you and if you made a mistake, they were there to help . . and there to tell your parents about it!
Amen

Another great square for another great blessing!

Either my memory is really bad (likely) or I missed a few squares' descriptions. Anyway, your sampler is looking really good!
