Block 75

Trained Firefighters

This evening
the national news
brought several
international disasters
to the viewers.

The 1st disaster
was in Russia.
Forest Fires . . .

Now,
we have bad forest fires
in the United States.
The difference
is that we have
firefighters
trained to deal
with them.
From what I have heard,
the firefighters in Russia
do not receive
this type of training.

Then,
I see that some of the fires
are in forests
that are growing on peat.
Peat has been used
for thousands,
if not millions,
of years
as a means of heating
shelters.
The news said
that the peat in this one area
can go 7 feet into the ground.
That
sounds to me
like it
could smolder for years.

How sad.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for people like Mark and Ron who have dedicated their lives to firefighting. The people of Logansport have been lucky too have men like them as their employees. These men do not "work a job." They are "working a passion."

Amen.
